baby steps.
There was an article in The Bottom Line, an accounting newspaper, about recruiters who work specifically for public accounting candidates such as myself. I sent in my resume last night since there were several jobs on the site that I was interested in. Someone from the headhunting company called me this morning as I was driving to work. These people work fast! Unfortunately, two of the three jobs I was interested in have already been filled, but she was able to match my skills and experience to several other positions.
There's one in particular that caught my eye. I'm meeting with the headhunting lady on Wednesday, hopefully something will work out.
I'm still a bit torn about how hard I want to try to get a job in the Big 4. Sure, the name will definitely be recognizable when I move to the States, but do I really want to work there? Small fish in big pond, or big fish in small pond??
time for: work. two more hours 'til quitting time!! Then it's crazy cat time!!

starting to freak out a little.
My co-worker pointed out today that I have 16 more work days left 'til I leave this job.
Edward pointed out on tuesday that I have no new job yet.... and I haven't started looking, really.
What's wrong with me??!?!? I have the resume 90% done. Just gotta sit my butt down and do a cover letter.

After a long hiatus..
October
- winery trip with group of 7. Surprisingly fun. Not that I didn't expect the company to be fun... but it WAS all about wine, which I have absolutely no interest in. We did get cheese and crackers to go with the wine though, that part I enjoyed.
- spent most the month agonizing over the results of the damned exam.
November
- Thought I'd be all sweet and 'surprise' Edward in Boston for his bday... never doing THAT again. Why? 1) it was a week when he had like 4 midterms. 2) I gave him food poisoning while I was there and screwed him up for said midterms. Heh. Poor Edward.
- Results finally came out. Sigh of relieve. Totally didn't sink in.
December
- Tried to work like a maniac like Carol does. Apparently working 35 days straight will drive me batty. Luckily there was a flood in the office and I was able to enjoy a couple of relaxing days off during that period of time.
- The month passed by super quickly. Dreading something always make time go quickly as was the case during the first half of the month with my lack of days off. Then Edward was here for the second half of the month and time definitely flies when you are happy.
- Began to think about how high the UFE pass rate was this year... and wondered if I would've passed if the pass rate was similar to previous years.
- Got yelled at by several people regarding doubts of the UFE pass rate. I believe the words, "What the hell is wrong with you? You passed! Forget it!", were hurled at me a few times.
January
- Finally went snowboarding..... helllloooooooooooooooooo, fun!
It was a quick few months, filled with a lot of very, very busy times. Didn't have enough time to myself to think, let alone update this blog.
As for resolutions... my 2006 resolution was just the pass the UFE, didn't really care about too much else. As for 2007, I've thought of some, but they are just general guidelines for your typical young adult.
Don't blow so much money.
Don't eat too excessively.
Don't forget to exercise.
Don't blow so much money.
etc.
I also want to read more... AND... there's that ever-daunting task of looking for a new job and sorting out how I shall proceed to find a job in the states.
Looking very much forward to the CA convocation on Feb 24th. Got myself a hot date and found a dress I absolutely adore, can't wait for the ball!! Then it's off to Boston I go for week (hopefully no food mishaps this time), then maybe we'll even fit in a couple of days of snowboarding before the end of the season. Woohoo!!
time for: thawing my hands. typing makes them cold!

aaaaaahhhhhhh....
The whole thing was a blur.. 7 cases.. I think I have a slight recollection of maybe 3 of them... one of them was about an ostrich farm... one about a coffee house franchise.. and one about a DVD rental store.. can't remember.. don't want to remember the rest.
On the way out of the examination hall, there was a guy standing there handing out envelops.. they contained a note with words of congratulations for writing the UFE.. along with a business card of a rep. from a head hunting service. Hahaha.. I knew there'd be headhunting, just didn't think it'd start the second we leave the room. Funny.
time for: I should pack, going to Ottawa for the weekend. Yay!

bring it on..
Someone told me yesterday that I'll eventually pass this thing. Gee, thanx. For the first time ever, instead of getting annoyed and raging about dumb comments made by this person, I just laughed. Surely no one's that cruel. Maybe they are just really that.. uh.. not-smart.
As my UFE friend put it not-so-eloquently, "UFE YOUR ASS IS SO BIG, IT NEED A WHOOPING!!!"
I'm sorry, that just cracks me up. Bring it on.
time for: a tiny bit more review. really just putting my mind at rest. I'll do the photo post at some point, blogger's been keen on eating my posts.
