fingers are thawed now.

After wrapping my semi-frozen digits around a warm mug for 10 minutes, they finally have some of their agility back. Why are my fingers frozen, you ask? Cuz Mags and I are missing brain cells. Why did we stand outside in the freezing cold to chat for 20 minutes when my front door was 15 feet away? Why?

It was good to hear about her job though, even though people around you seem a little.. uhm.. unreasonable.. just stick with it and nothing will bug you after this. hahahah. You can list "Tolerant of most "pains in the ass" as a skill on your resume. (Pains in the ass? Pain in the asses?) In the meantime, find something closer to home. Man, traffic sucks so bad.

Sometimes when I'm stuck in traffic I think of scenarios or inventions that would make driving during rush hour more tolerable. The traffic system in I, Robot comes to mind a lot. That computer controlled streetcar-esque grid they have with controlled speed, acceleration and everything else seems like such an ideal. No more stupid idiots taking half the green light to cross the intersection cuz of their slow pickup; no more morons leaving three minivan lengths between themselves and the car in front of them; no more assholes who do not signal when they turn/switch and hence causing you to quickly hit your brakes. Assholes.

Based of half a year of rush hour driving on city roads and various highways, I have these findings from my observations:
  • the louder and flashier the car is, the more grotesque the guy is behind the wheel... and the more of a skank they have in their passenger seat
  • if a corolla is in front of you, be prepared to switch lanes soon... if it's silver, switch ASAP
  • pickup truck drivers would rather run you off the road than to you let you in from an on-ramp
  • the bigger the car is (ie. lincolns and the like), the slower and the more non-chalant the driver is. They will drive at their own speed and hold up traffic and not bother to signal when they change lanes. Why? Because "What's the rush? I'm old and important, I set my own schedule, suckers!"
  • people who drive Benz or BMW SUVs think they own the fucking parking lot. Lexus SUVs are almost just as bad

I don't know what I would do if I had to drive a long way everyday. 15 minutes each way is already irritating. I need to find ppl who live near me so we can carpool. If the bus system had better and more frequent connections between north york and richmond hill, I would be inclined to take the bus at least on some days. But alas, if I am going to have to leave an hour earlier than now AND pay 8 bucks a day to "ride the rocket" and "go viva", I'll stick with my own purple rocket. Wait, Ab's gonna make that sound dirty. I meant my car, which is indeed purple in the mornings.

Even rantings about driving. Yes yes, Eve, tough shit. Yes yes, I should try waiting for the bus in the cold for half an hour. Right. Hey, you want to complain? Do it on your own blog. :P

9 days people! Oooooooooooooooohhh yeeaaaaaaaa!

still here.

I've neglected by beloved blog long enough. It's been at least a month since I've last updated. Not quite sure what I've been doing, but there never seemed to be enough hours in the day and the month just flewwwwwww by.

My parents went on a month-long vacation which included 16 days on a cruiseship that weaved in and out of various parts of Europe. While the ship was crossing various bodies of water, they stuffed their tummies full of yummies onboard. I don't want to sound like an ungrateful brat, but that was a gooooooood month. No one bugged me about computers. No one insisting that I needed to eat chinese style fish. No one told me that I'm gaining/losing too much weight. I did have to spend about 5 hours a week attending to my mother's 25 orchids and 40 other various plants, but it was well worth it. (I didn't kill any this time! Yay!)

I really enjoyed setting my own time at home after work. Cooking dinner and eating at a reasonable time. Eating delicious and mostly healthy meals I actually enjoy. They may seem like trivial things, but after 24 years of being forced to eat "healthy" and often completely disgusting things, you cannot imagine how great it was to eat what I like. Hey, you try choking down a swim bladder every week and not feel the way I feel. Swim bladder, I tell you. *shudder*

Other than utilizing my peaceful free time at home to read a few books, I've been trying to get myself prepared for the CKE coming up in a mere 31 days. Am I ready? No. Am I close to ready? Hell no! Don't you know me better than that?!? Have been going to prep courses every Sunday for the past 9 weeks. They help quite a bit, but I still have a long way to go before I'm totally prepared for it. I don't understand why they schedule it for Jan. 4. Bastards. They are ruining all the candidates' holidays!

13 more days 'til Edward come back to t.o! 13 more days 'til we hit Tremblant! I suppose now's a good time to find a decent map.. and probably time for me to install the bindings on my snowboard. Under quite a bit of pressure to study quicker. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to concentrate well when Edward comes back. I'm not sure if I can bully my mind into concentrating on the fun world of taxes and audit when he's nearby. And if he's not nearby... well then, where the heck is he?!? I've been trying to keep a precise schedule as to how much time I spend each night on studying. These were last week's results:

Goal: 10 hours - all on Assurance material and related MC
Results: 5.5 hours
Remarks: Shit!

Maybe I'll do better this week?

time for: trying not to get too worked up.
