why oh why..

Why doesn't that "You are Windex" thing fit properly?? It fits on baby.chai's.. Anyhoo, either I was lying through my teeth when I was answering that quiz, or it's complete bs. I'm sorry, me, neat freak? Couldn't be more wrong. Let me tell you a typical day in Evie's room.

It starts with waking up, rolling over and looking for my glasses. Are they on the carpet? Nope. In the laundry basket overflowing with clothes? Nope. Ah, there it is, resting on one of the numerous bags/purses strewn about on my carpet. Then it's rifling through the closet looking for something to wear for work. I'll put one thing on, decide against it, take it off, throw it on my desk (where it'll sit for a few days) and choose something else. The same thing happens when I come home from work. I change and clothes wind up on the floor/bed/desk/chair, never in the closet, cuz that's just wrong. Whenever Ed and I sit on the carpet to watch a DVD, we are forever digging up bags/clothes/socks/pants from under us and shoving it to the side. It's not just the clothes either. It's papers, letters, binders, books, magazines, various knick knacks. It's the worst during exam time. The carpet is so covered that I don't even bother avoiding the clutter, I just step right on it to cross the room.

Yes, I'm a slob. And damn proud of it. Mind you, I clean up every so often and marvel at how much more spacious my room can be without the clutter. But it never stays that way. It'll be messy about in about half a day. Some people are amazed with brilliant scientists or great cooks. Me? I'm amazed with people who have zero clutter, like the ones in decorating magazines.

And no, my room is not dirty. It's just messy. There's a difference. Dirty is like piling wet clothing on top of each other on the floor and tracking mud into the room. I don't live like that. I do have the line drawn somewhere.
